Blue Storm Wavespell – Transforming

by Mariela Maya

The theme for the next 13 days is Transformation!

One of the greatest paradoxes in life is that, while we are afraid of change, everything is constantly changing! Many times we are tired of certain situations that block our growth and we know that we are ready for something new and different. But, as implied in several idiomatic expressions, we prefer to keep the old as it is and stay with what we don’t like, instead of daring to trust the unknown and make the shift to something better. Wouldn’t it be great to try it?

Read first what our little caterpillar friend is going through in these days and then what the Metamorphosis butterfly has to say about it:

August Month of Pachamama
Honoring our Beloved Mother Earth

Since beginning of times, Native people around the world lived in physical and spiritual communion with Mother Earth and Nature’s elements, a relationship based on respect and love for the planet and all its living beings. Nature’s cycles were revered and humans lived in harmony with the rest of creation.

Even though this connection has been neglected by many in modern society, there are still communities and individuals globally that keep traditions alive as a way to express gratitude and love for Mother Earth, thanking her for nurturing and giving us all we need to subsist.

From Quechua and Aymara languages, Pachamama can be referred to as Mother Earth and it is a focal point in the Andean cosmovision. Through rituals and celebrations, many native communities in Peru, Ecuador, Bolivia and the North of Argentina pay tribute to the Earth in August every year, known as the “Month of the Pachamama”. Thank you Mother Earth, this month and every single day our lives!

Mercury Retrograde August 12 – September 5, 2017

In modern society, where things are measured by productivity and efficiency, there is a tendency to associate Mercury retrograde with “something bad”. As the planet that rules communications, Mercury relates to our thinking process, mental abilities and how we communicate with others. Mercury retrograde is known for possible delays, overall misunderstandings and technology hitches. As it seems to be in ‘reverse’, it is an invitation to ‘re’: re-visit, re-view, re-store and re-boot.

In mythology, Mercury is known as the messenger of the gods and when retrograde, it has a message to give us. What a great time to stop and listen!

Total Solar Eclipse August 21, 2017

During this month, intensity also increases as a result of two eclipses. The Full Moon on August 7 with a Partial Lunar Eclipse is followed by a Total Solar Eclipse with the New Moon on August 21.

Very symbolic, the solar eclipse on the 21st will cross the United States from coast to coast, creating a shadow line across the country which will be seen in its totality only in the US. As it passes through the “path of totality”, darkness will cover the skies and the Earth as it moves forward in its course.

Eclipses “lift the veils” and generally bring along change, shifting our perception and the way we experience reality. What a wonderful opportunity during this Blue Storm Wavespell to go deeper in our process and see what is there for us to transform so we can experience renewal and purification, and embrace change that will empower not only ourselves, but also the ones around us!

May we stay calm amidst the storm, as we surf the wave of transformation!

The 20 coloring butterflies made for each Wavespell in the previous cycle are posted on this page so you can continue playing. You will find them in the glyphs order from 1 (Red Dragon) to 20 (Yellow Sun) including a brief reference to their meaning.

In Lak’esh means “I am another yourself!”, a Mayan greeting that recognizes the Divine in each living Being. It’s a message of Unity that reminds us that, when we give, we are also receiving. In this way, the Mayan honored and respected each other, reinforcing the belief that we are all interconnected: what we do to others and to our environment will also affect ourselves in the end…

Munay means both ‘Love’ and ‘Beauty’ in Quechua, the language of the Incas. Munay, translated as ‘To love’, is one of the three principles of the Andean way.
