The Butterfly of Growth

Yellow Seed Wavespell

Power of Intention
January 27 – February 8, 2017

Many years ago, while I was a volunteer at an NGO helping native communities to develop self-sustained projects, we used to have an annual event in Buenos Aires called ‘Cultural and Artisanal Program of the First Nations of America’ where people were invited to share the same topics from different points of view, mainly related to culture, art, medicine, education, and others. The event used to take place over several days and the program included bringing native people from different communities as well as representatives from embassies, universities and other institutions related to indigenous programs in North and South American countries.

In 2000, during a talk on cosmology and perception of reality, one of the presenters called Mamani, a native Kolla from the North of Argentina, shared with us two very clear and important lessons. When asking a child in a city to draw a human being and the Earth, he said, most probably this is what we will see:

And when asking the same question to an indigenous child in a native community, the drawing will look like this:

In the first case, the human can be seen as if standing on top of the Earth and separated from creation. The drawing gives a sense of superiority and hierarchy as if one is above the rest. In the second case, the human is inside the circle as part of the Web of Life, symbolically reminding us that we are all threads of the same tapestry.

He continued explaining the various angles we perceive reality from, which are mainly based on our cultural and educational differences. By the end of his presentation, he said: “We are all gardeners and each one of us plant seeds in our environment. Some will blossom, and others will not. And if we choose to consciously continue planting the seeds we want to see growing on our path, one day we will be able to enjoy a beautiful and diverse garden called Life, which we are all part of.”

As the Year of the Fire Monkey is about to end, many cultures in Asia will be celebrating the Lunar New Year of the Fire Rooster (Cock or Chicken) as of January 28, 2017. After a hectic Monkey year, the Rooster asks us to be ingenious and use our talents to find solutions with flexibility in these moments of change.

While turbulence seems to become more and more intense everywhere, it is also creating amazing opportunities of solidarity and community spirit. Seeds of consciousness are blossoming globally with the clear intention of creating a better world for all, reminding us that we are all one in spite of our nationalities, personal circumstances and choices.

Continuing in this agitated process of purification feels quite challenging for many since it is also bringing to light what we are ready to see, as if the veil of illusion is slowly getting thinner and the fog is being lifted. While the Rooster is very loud at times, it can also listen. May we all choose sustainable growth for the highest good of all through this transition, by staying centered in our hearts and planting conscious seeds of love.

The twelve signs of the Chinese zodiac complement each year with one of these five elements: Water, Wood, Fire, Earth and Metal and the same sign-element combination repeats itself every 60 years. The previous Rooster year (Wood element) was in 2005 and Fire Rooster was in 1957.

In Lak’esh means “I am another yourself!”, a Mayan greeting that recognizes the Divine in each living Being. It’s a message of Unity that reminds us that, when we give, we are also receiving. In this way, the Mayan honored and respected each other, reinforcing the belief that we are all interconnected: what we do to others and to our environment will also affect ourselves in the end…

Munay means both ‘Love’ and ‘Beauty’ in Quechua, the language of the Incas. Munay, translated as ‘To love’, is one of the three principles of the Andean way.

I invite you to subscribe to the series of messages on Wavespells sent every 13 days.  To get in tune with the current cycle, please use the Daily Tzolkin.
