Red Dragon Wavespell of New Beginnings

by Mariela Maya

My Special Experience with Ojizo-san

Last year, while hosting a Solstice ceremony, I met with Akiko Kimura from Japan who was living in Houston at that moment. Continuing celebrating Nature’s cycles together, she offered a beautiful dance to Pachamama, Mother Earth, during the following Equinox ceremony. I shared with her about my great experiences in Japan and how touched I was by Ojizo-san, as you can see in the photo on my website

Ojizo-san is the protector of children and travelers in the physical and spiritual realms. It brings serenity, happiness and connects us with our inner child. Using her words, “Ojizo-san tells us that we can find divine authority in ourselves”. In Sanskrit, it is called Ksitigarbha, which can be translated as the ‘Womb of the Earth’ or ‘Earth Matrix’.

Just before recently moving to London, Akiko gave me the most wonderful surprise asking her mother to bring me from Japan an Ojizo-san hand carved by the monks at Koganji Temple known as Togenuki-Jizo of Sugamo. My dear Ojizo-san and I are on our way to Peru in a week to share our journey together with a beautiful group from different countries!

Akiko is a birth facilitator and doula supporting women before, during and after birth (this is her website in Japanese). As the energy or archetype of the Red Dragon is about the power of Birth, I invited her to write something about it for this Wavespell. Not only Akiko is sharing with us a beautiful experience and message, but also her introduction of Dragons and Snakes based on Shintoism is very symbolic, since she is a Red Serpent born on the fifth day of the Wavespell of the Red Dragon!

Embracing the Red Dragon spirit on our Mother Earth
by Akiko Kimura

Dragons and snakes are often seen as the same creature or the same type of sacred animal and have similar roles in many myths in the world. It’s the same in my country, Japan. Snakes, especially, are seen as a sacred messenger in the indigenous belief system, Shintoism. We can trace Shintoism back to the origins of Japanese history. This form of religion worships the many deities of heaven and earth.

I saw a wild snake swimming in a shallow river just before the contractions of my second birth began. It was a summer evening three years ago in the park near our apartment. Seeing a few rabbits running by as well, I sensed something unusual. The air was filled with a special power, as if Gaia or Pachamama spirit gathered all the animals as one to celebrate the universe.

Sitting on the cool stone bridge, I watched the snake until she (or he, but I felt it was she!) gracefully sank into the water, leaving behind a beautiful ripple on the surface…. It was an interacting series of concentric circles, moving inward and outward…so mystical…. it was a truly breathtaking view for me, a pregnant woman (here is the photo from that moment).

After coming back home I had a series of good and strong contractions to push my baby out. It was my first time seeing a wild snake swimming and it connected me to my wildness. I can say I became aware of reconnecting to the natural balance of my wild feminine landscape and the receptive place in my heart.

I believed that it helped me to have a most peaceful waterbirth with my midwife at home. It was the most sacred and comfortable experience and was like freeing my forgotten femininity (completely opposite from what I used to be told by my mother about her experience giving birth to me in a hospital).

I work as a doula and birth facilitator but what I am passionate about is empowering our forgotten femininity, not just in women but in men, too. People often say to me, “Oh. You sound like an eco-feminist or witch”. Well, I am not quite either. What I share is to embrace the differences between women and men. There is no point in making a comparison between them because each is in a unique field that has its own flow of energy. That energy is of masculinity and femininity, the rhythm of the Wholeness, both of which the world needs in order to be respectfully balanced in a harmonious way.

As man heals his feminine side and woman takes care of herself, so too, mother earth heals.

That is our new beginning…

Beginning of the Red Castle and a NEW CYCLE

The Wavespell of the Red Dragon starts the Red Castle of Initiations. We have 52 days (until September 7, 2014) to set our goals and put in motion the projects we want to manifest within this cycle.

As the Red Dragon is the power of Birth, it also gives birth to an entire new Tzolkin cycle of 260 days (July 18, 2014 to April 3, 2015). Click on the image or here to open the Tzolkin matrix or Harmonic Module with the updated Gregorian dates. And, if you are not familiar with the Tzolkin, you can read about it and learn how to follow it on my old post when the previous cycle started.

I send a message out every 13 days when a new Wavespell starts. The first part of each message contains the Light, Shadows, Questions for Reflection and Actions for Transformation related to the energy or archetype of the first day of that 13-day period. It’s an invitation to put it in practice, make the assignment and experience the shift. In the second part, I will be sharing some personal experiences, travels, books or events related to the archetype. The message today is unusually long as it initiates a new cycle and there are some important upcoming dates, but it is my intention to keep future messages shorter.

To know the dates in the Gregorian calendar, every time you see one dot on a cell in this matrix, it means that a new Wavespell starts. You can read a brief reference on the left side to know what the underlying theme for each specific period of 13 days is about. If you have any personal experiences or stories related to any of the 20 archetypes you would like for me to share, please let me know!

Important upcoming dates

Based on the 13Moon Calendar, the New Year is about to start:

July 24, 2014 – End of the Yellow Galactic Seed Year, a year to connect with our true potential in order to blossom with clear intentions and integrity.

July 25, 2014Day out of Time, it’s a day dedicated to artistic expressions and… my birthday! I loved how Ana Maria Frallicciardi put it: “A special day of the year to live doing what the heart feels, in freedom and love for life”.

July 26, 2014 – Beginning of the Red Solar Moon Year, a year to release repressed emotions so that the stagnant waters can flow again helping us to recover balance and inner peace. It’s time for cleansing and purification, giving us the opportunity to regain our sensibility while feeling safe. Based on the Thirteen Tones of Creation, during the Solar tone (number 9) this year we are getting ready before manifesting it next year with Planetary Tone, number 10.

If all this is new to you, don’t worry if it sounds too technical or “complicated”. Just connect with it in a playful way; pay attention to the synchronicities you experience and you will see how magical -and clear- it all becomes!

Note: I will be in Peru until October with limited access to the Internet. I will be reading all incoming emails on a regular basis, but it may take me some time to respond to you. If you want to book Skype sessions or readings, I will have some availability during the month of September; please add SKYPE in the subject of your email. And I look forward to sharing our group experiences with you… and photos of course! : – )

Happy New Tzolkin Cycle, Happy Day out of Time and Happy New 13-Moon Calendar Year!

Wishing you all great new beginnings!!!

In Lak’esh means “I am another yourself!”, a Mayan greeting that recognizes the Divine in each living Being. It’s a message of Unity that reminds us that, when we give, we are also receiving. In this way, the Mayan honored and respected each other, reinforcing the belief that we are all interconnected: what we do to others and to our environment will also affect ourselves in the end…

Munay means both ‘Love’ and ‘Beauty’ in Quechua, the language of the Incas. Munay, translated as ‘To love’, is one of the three principles of the Andean way.

I invite you to subscribe to the series of messages on Wavespells sent every 13 days. You can read what it is about by clicking on Subscribing to? and, for additional information, please visit my website.

To get in tune with the daily energies, you can check it on the Daily Tzolkin.

If you are not familiar with the Tzolkin, and you want to explore it further, you can read my message posted on 10/31/13 when this current cycle started.
